5 Easy (and realistic) morning routine habits to feel more body confident

Do you ever wake up feeling like absolute sh*t? Like when you're just so tired and you haven't brushed your teeth yet but you also just can't be bothered to and you just feel like a slug and slugs don't brush their teeth, so why would you?

Well if that's just me, then damnnn I have some work to do. But if you've been there too, I have 3 quick and realistic tips to share with you that always make me feel way more confident and way sexier when I wake up in the morning.

I don't know about you but I was always so overwhelmed by all of the morning routine blog posts and youtube videos that were all 2-hour long morning routines featuring full-on workout routines, gourmet breakfasts, 20-minute meditation sessions, journalling and reading a novel.

Well maybe that's alright for some, but not for me. And I imagine they're not realistic for a lot of people who don't work for yourself or you have kids or you just aren't for elaborate, time-consuming morning routines.

And that's what inspired me to create this blog post. I'm all about incorporating simple habits that have the maximum impact.

So here are a few quick and simple habits that have made a huge difference to how I feel about my body in the mornings.

1. Drink water as soon as you wake up

Ok so I NEVER used to do this. Like, ever. And that's just because I hated the idea of drinking water when I still had morning breath.

But, ever since coming down with a kidney infection (blog post about this coming soon), I've started drinking a good amount of water first thing in the morning when I wake up. I do this RELIGIOUSLY and it's changed the game for me. Why?

Well, firstly, it means you get some of your daily intake of water in first thing, which means you're more likely to reach your water intake goal for the day.

But secondly, it kickstarts and refreshes your body first thing in the morning, which makes you feel less groggy and much fresher. And if I feel more fresh, then I'm way more likely to feel confident in my own skin and take on the day like a boss.

Also, another bonus benefit of drinking water first thing is you're much more likely to do a very satisfying poop later in the day, which will make you feel much lighter, decrease bloating and increase body confidence. Big WIN in my books!

TOP TIP: Keep a glass or bottle of water on your bedside table so you can reach over and drink it automatically in the morning without needing to get out of your toasty bed.

2. Massage your face for one minute

Ok so this one might sound a little indulgent, but hear me out.

Massaging my face for just a minute or two in the mornings and evenings not only makes me feel so fresh and rejuvenated, but it also has physical benefits.

My face has become a lot more chiseled and way less puffy, and I can see visually the difference in the mirror. And seeing visual results makes me feel so damn confident in my body.

Obviously, not everyone has a lot of time in the morning before work to sit there for several minutes massaging their face. So my tip is just to moisturise your face as usual and use the slip from the moisturiser to massage your face.

Comment below if you want a step by step breakdown on how I massage my face to reduce puffiness and enhance facial structure. But generally the rule is to massage in upwards and outwards motions.

I always know I've done a good job when my nose starts to run a little, because that means I've drained my lymphatic system and I'm getting rid of toxins, which makes me feel AMAZING.

3. Eat a breakfast higher in fats and proteins (instead of carbs).

Now, don't get me wrong. I love carbs. With all my heart. 'Til death do us part.

But if you've ever suffered with post-breakfast cravings and over-eating like I have, starting your day with a breakfast rich in healthy fats and protein can be an absolute LIFE SAVER.

Here are some foods you can add to your breakfast to up your protein intake: Organic pea protein, almond butter, eggs, organic greek yoghurt (if you can tolerate dairy), smoked salmon.

And your fat intake: Avocados, almond butter, hazelnut butter, cashew nut butter, chia seeds (also high in fibre!), flax seeds (one of my personal faves), wild smoked salmon, extra virgin olive oil.

4. Listen to a podcast

This is hands down one of the best habits I ever incorporated into a morning routine.

Why?

Because it means one of the first things I do in my day is LEARN. Or even if it's not always the most educational podcast, it's nice to be entertained and have a little giggle first thing in the morning to brighten the mood.

And it doesn't have to be a podcast about something random or brand new, but even just a podcast that you know you love and you know has a new episode out.

My personal favourite kinds of podcasts to listen to are business, wellness, mindset and feminism podcasts, but you can choose any that tickle your fancy.

If you fancy having a listen to my podcast - Shorty Gains - then give it listen on Spotify here or on Apple Podcasts here.

5. Do your hair

Ok so this might be a little more important for my curly hair sisters out there generally have a lot more hair to deal with in the mornings.

But regardless of what hair type you have, styling your hair in some way, even if it's just combing down the flyaways and tying it up in a pony tail of some sort, can make you feel so much more put together and ready for the day.

I usually wake up with a messy pineapple looking hairstyle on my head or a bun that's seen much better days, and whenever I've tried rushing in to beginning my day without sorting out my hair, I've never been able to be productive.

Just a simple brush of the hair and putting it in whatever quick style makes you feel best will do the trick.

Final Thoughts

The habits I've talked about are just a few of the many you could choose from, but they're the most realistic and practical ones that worked for me.

If you have any other simple healthy morning routine habits that make you feel less like an alien in the morning and more like the sexy, confident woman you are, then share them below in the comments!

Until next time, shorties x
